The Venice Cup is underway and we are off to a flying start!
In match 1 of the round-robin, we were drawn to play against France, the home nation and holders of the cup. Despite an early reversal, we turned the match around with a fine performance and emerged victorious by 32 IMPS to 17!
This was followed by another impressive victory, this time by 47 IMPs to 18 against Egypt. With all three pairs playing well, we have slotted into second place, behind the flying Dutch. There is a long way to go but it is a great boost to morale to have started so strongly.
We hope for more of the same against Australia in our final match today whilst, on the menu tomorrow, will be Sweden, India and USA II.
