Women's Teams, Round-Robin Day Four

World Bridge Games,  Wednesday September 7

The English women have moved up to fifth place in their group after some difficult moments yesterday.   We recorded two handsome victories against Pakistan and Korea but, in between, suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the Japanese.   The only gifts we received in this match were some hand-crafted pieces of origami at the start of the encounter!

Nevertheless, with many of the teams having tougher run-ins than us, there is no need for despondancy.   The table below shows the leading nine teams - eight qualify for the knock-out stages.

Today, we will play South Africa, Turkey and San Marino.   Clearly, the outcome of the Turkish fixture could be vital in our quest to qualify in one of the leading places.
