Pau - England start slowly

England got off to a slow start in the Open Series of the European Championships. In match 1 they lost 10 - 20 to Monaco, in match 2 they scored 18 for a bye and in match 3 they lost 7 - 23 to tournament favourites Italy. At the end of day 1 they are in 16th position with 35vps. Italy lead the group with 65, followed by Czech Rep. 60, Israel 58, Finland 56. England need to finish in the top 9 out of the 19 teams in their group to qualify for the second stage.
