U26 - Day 5

Apologies for the lack of posts for the last two days.  I've been frustrated both by the team's results and by erratic internet access here.

On Saturday we performed well in the first two matches, getting ourselves back into contention, indifferently in the third match, and badly in the four match, ending up back in 16th place where we started.

On Sunday we performed well in the first two matches and poorly in the third match, ending up in 14th place.  (There are four and three matches on alternate days, so that after six days we'll have played 21 matches.)

Today we built a useful lead in the first match against China, but suffered two major reverses to lose the match by 1 IMP.  But then we scored a big win against Indonesia and a small win against the fancied Swedish team.  And in the last match of the day we crushed Chinese Taipei.  We're now in 9th place, some way behind 8th but with a fighting chance of getting ourselves into the top eight and qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
